S for South Indian Love

I am from the land where south India usually means Madras, Idly, Dosa, Beaches, Fishes, Lungi, and dark-complexioned men. I am a North Indian, who now very proudly calls Hyderabad my home.

Throughout my childhood, I was taught all the cliches about South India. I was taught that Hindi is the national language of India, which is not. I was taught that North Indian culture is the real culture of India, but I wonder if there is anything other than a mere handful business generating festivals. I learned and was accustomed to believing that spices, oil, sugar, and butter are what make up a nice food. But those are the ingredients I have been constantly avoiding now.

Coming from the Northern States of India, I am swept off in the opinion that I earlier had about this amazing part of the country.

Financially, these are the highest per capita revenue-generating states of India. Educationally, all these states have a significantly higher literacy rate than the national average. Standard of living, People in these states have a higher per capita income than the national median. Culturally, they are proud of their history, and almost every village has their folklore, and traditions which they still follow wholeheartedly. They have an average family size larger than the national average, and they speak their language unlike we speak Hindi, even though almost everybody knows a common language English here. The food here is simple, pristine, and most importantly nutritious, most of the people still eat their food in banana leaves with their hands as has been Indian culture always. People here are more connected with each other and have a broader mindset than most in north India, they are accepting and accommodating of all the new people who take even a single step towards learning the local culture.

Let alone the talks about the natural beauty of the places here. The western ghats are just the magic nature chooses to bless these states with. Your heart would capture more than your eyes can ever see here. I am yet to come to Kerala, which I think is God's most special creation. You just raise your eyes to look, and your head bows down a little to let out the words of gratitude. The mountains are so tall, the peaks are covered in clouds, the forest so green, the trees so tall, the rivers so pristine, and the birds so chirpy, yet everything feels so peaceful here.

Here is me embracing nature, with which I am madly in love with.
