R for Ramyak's Eye

The best thing about my college was that it was just next to a highway. And boy, how much did we love it? Every evening there would be scores of people in small-small groups walking about a mile on the highway, some holding hands with each other, some holding conversations with each other, while others just holding their gaze in each other's eyes. The tea stall beside the petrol pump was the common destination where people mostly headed to.

That tea stall has heard more conversations and stories about us than the college campus ever heard. The same tea stall has also witnessed so many bubbly starts and awkward endings. We all hold that tea stall very close to our hearts.

Almost every evening, I would be out on highways. Sometimes with one group of people, and sometimes with another, the company kept changing but the love for the tea stall didn't. We also had another tea stall on the way, where we fell back to when our petrol pump tea stall was closed. This stall also served amazing Samosa and Alu Pakoras. But the vibe of this place was not as inviting as our first preference. So despite its closer distance, more delicious food options, lesser crowd, and better-tasting tea, it didn't get its deserved preference.

Similar to every day, one fine day was out with my friends for tea at a highway stall. With chai and samosa in our hands, swee called my friend harsh. He picked up the call unwillingly because of course, he loved his tea more than her pulling his legs.

Next thing that she said shattered our happy world.

"Ramyak got hit on his eyes from the shuttle and he is not able to see anything now"

Just a little heads up on my friend Ramyak. He is the person who I love to hug the most. The one who can make you feel at home, in any given situation. You cannot stay either angry or hungry around him. (he always had food). He would always have a smile on his face, and his words would always be happy, joyous, soothing, and inspiring. He radiated so much positive energy that intoxicated the entire space he was in. If you are with him, it's nearly impossible to prevent yourself from the charm that he unknowingly created, his smile was infectious. It was impossible to remain sad just after spending a couple of minutes with him.

It seemed like God was his best friend, and life couldn't dare to touch him negatively. It was impossible to see him when he didn't have that billion-dollar smile on his face.

Just as she held up the call, we ran leaving behind our cups and plates. We ran like crazy, faster than we ever ran in our life. When we closed into the college with our hearts panting, I saw Swee holding Ramyak by his hands, and walking towards the way we were coming towards. Other friends were giving him support, but that idiot still had a smile on his face.

As we closed in the distance, and reached the touching distance. The next thing that happened was shocking to everybody there.
He hugged us and streams of tears trickled down his cheeks, and it came down in volume. We hugged for very long, till he regained his composure again.

We took him to the hospital and dropped him at his hometown, and he recovered completely after a month.

But what shook me the most was I saw the happiest person I knew ever in the whole world cry that day.
I cried too, but I am more frequent in that business.

I never thought that he might also cry. I always considered him a superhero, the one who had a solution to every problem. He was the person who makes all the situations super easy.

But It was on that day that I saw my superhero cry.

I'm not sure if your
superhero wears a cap,
But mine doesn't he manages
it with a hoodie.
