L for Letters
I am in my office, attending a call.
It was a Monday morning.
I am drained of all the energy my body had. Mondays are a little difficult days for the office goers. With the last two days off, your mind has secretly been desiring the same sort of life for the rest of five days.
Then your brain reminds you that its time to work again, it hits you the same as somebody splashing a bucket of cold water on your face, when you are sleeping cozy under a blanket on a cold chilly night, dreaming about a trip to your favorite place, with you favorite person enjoying at the beach, with the moonlight shining brightly over your head and the waves gently caressing your feet.
Coming back to Monday, I receive a call on my mobile phone. It's from the postman, he says there is a letter for you, come downstairs and collect it. As I disconnect the call, my heart starts doing somersaults inside. His call opened up all the floodgates of happiness in my mind. As the intoxicating water of joy rush to fill my heart I couldn't help jumping up from my seat, uttering something loud enough to attract a few eyeballs. But who cares, I was floating in newly found ecstasy, and everything around me ceased to exist.
I rushed down to collect it, and as the postman handed me the letter, I closed my eyes for a minute. Lowered my head and thanked God, and of course the writer, for giving me the greatest joy that my heart knows, receiving a handwritten letter.
"Sir, you have to Sign here", from the postman who felt I was dreaming, broke my spell. I signed and got back to my work. The envelope sat proudly on my desk, showing off to people how lucky and blessed I am in my life.
It was a letter from my friend Bhavana, my loving, energetic, and whip-smart friend whom I just met once in my life. When she talks she creates an enticing web around her, you cannot just help falling prey to the honesty that oozes out of her words. With so many problems standing in her way, and so many restrictions blocking her way, she still chooses to create the life that she dreams of. The way she dodges and knocks everything that comes her way makes her a great warrior. She Inspires me to live every day like there is no tomorrow.
I can't share the content of the letter, but trust me it is one of the sweetest and most loving written letters you could ever Imagine.

Here is one of my proud possessions. |
I replied to her with a letter, the first that I wrote here from here in Hyderabad. The postmaster back at home knows my love affairs with the letters since he is the only one handing me all those little packets of unmeasurable joy.
As I handed over the letter to the lady with a bored face at the post office desk. She turned over to the opening of the envelope. It was sealed with Paper tape, with "Open with your lovely smile" written on top of it. Seeing this brought a smile to her face, she kept staring at the envelope for another minute, with the smile getting wider with every passing second. Soon she regained her composure, pasted a sticker on the top of the envelope are dropped it into the box with other letters.
"Thank you", I said as I prepared to leave.
"Thank... You... ", she responded with a bright wide smile.
I wish the art of letter-writing was not dying. It is so special to receive a handwritten letter.
